What Is The New Alignment of the New Man
Col 2:6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
Receiving Christ is the word “paralambano”
Lambano is to physically get something, possessing something and making it our very own. Our American “receive' is a mental ascent..its just lip service. The “receiving” of the Bible says “Hey baby, this is all mine!” This must be the breakthrough that we get into our new identity who is Christ. We must not give up until the old man like Jack in Titanic ( Leo De Caprio) finally sinks dead, and out of sight in the cold Atlantic waters. This is the first breakthrough. This is called to break free Then Christ must be fully grabbed, put on like brand new clothes
7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
Here is our new identity. The “rooted” is in the perfect tense. This means that once and for all we must be and remain firmly rooted, hooked into, and receive all our vitality and nutrients from the New Man Christ. Our identity must be totally conformed into and around this New Man. This is the second breakthrough. Graham Cooke calls the first breakthrough breaking free. He calls the second breakthrough, staying free.
The built and stablished are in the present tense. This describes a continuing and progressive work. Once that our identity gets hooked into the new man, then this new man, must continually be built in our lives from day to day. Its like building a massive skyscraper on the Miami skyline from day to day until its fully built.
The “stablished” is the word steerizo which is something massive, firm, stable, strong, “iron like”, unshakable and immovable.
This is the completion of our new identity. Ever last thing that we must do must align with our new identity. Much of this new identity is revealed through the study of God's word. This is why we must be students of God's word.
